Chandra Bahadur Dangi, The Shortest Man In The World Dies At 75

The world’s shortest man according to the Guinness World Records has died at 75. Chandra Bahadur Dangi, who resided in Nepal, only measured up to be 21.5 inches tall. GWR released a statement on their website on the passing of Dangi: “Guinness World Records (GWR), the global authority in record breaking achievements, is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Mr Chandra Dangi, who held the title of shortest man in the world. GWR would like to express its sincere and heartfelt condolences to Mr Dangi’s family in this difficult time. He will be remembered forever as an iconic and extraordinary record holder.”

Usually being at the comfort of his home throughout his life, Dangi traveled around the world when it was discovered that he was the world’s shortest man back in 2012. He beat out the former record holder who was listed at 23.5 inches. He has posed in many famous pictures while traveling, most notably with the world’s shortest woman, Jyothi Amge, who is listed at two feet, and the world’s tallest man, Sultan Kosen, who is 8-foot-3.

Dangi was admitted into the Lyndon B. Johnson Tropical Medical Center in Pago Pago. He was suffering from pneumonia and died later in the week. Despite only holding the record for a few years, Dangi enjoyed traveling around the world and representing his home country of Nepal.
