Florida Woman Being Held Hostage Uses Pizza Hut App To Get Help From 911
A Florida woman was being held hostage in her own home by her boyfriend, but she was a quick thinker and used the Pizza Hut app to order pizza and tell them she was being held hostage and asked them to call 911 for her!
Cheryl Treadway was a regular customer of the Pizza Hut in Avon Park and placed an online order, but the worker who pulled the ticket noticed these messages in the comments: “Please help! Get 911 to me” and “911 hostage help.” Manager Candy Hamilton printed the ticket and immediately contacted police. She said, “We’ve never seen that before. I’ve been here 28 years and never, never seen nothing like that come through.”
The woman and her three children were being held at knife-point in their own home by her boyfriend, Ethan Earl Nickerson, 26. The couple got into a fight earlier in the day and he threatened her with a knife. She tried to go pick up the kids from school, but he took her phone away and went with her to pick up the kids. Later on, she convinced him to allow her to use the phone to order some pizza online and her quick thinking saved the day.
Police arrived on the scene and Treadway came out with one of the kids in her arms. Lt. Curtis Ludden said, “She comes running toward us but two kids are still in the house with a person who’s on narcotics and you don’t know how their mindset with a knife, and we need to get them out.”
The cops negotiated with Nickerson and after 20 minutes, he came out without incident and the other two kids were safely removed from the home. Nickerson was charged with aggravated assault with a weapon without intent to kill, battery, false imprisonment and obstructing justice by depriving communication to law enforcement.
