Indian Village Is Worshiping New Toilets Instead Of Making Use Of Them

According to a new report from Planet Custodian, a group of newly built toilets within a small Indian town are not being used by the villagers, but are instead being worshiped by the people.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said this new campaign has been 100-percent successful to remove open defecation and urinated within the country. The campaign aimed to provide six million new toilets to rural areas throughout the country, but Modi claims nine million have been constructed within the span of one year.

Unfortunately, the poverty stricken villagers have decided to perform a pooja (or puja) – or a ritual performance – on these new toilets. The seats were covered in flowers, and coconuts and bananas were offered to the toilet Gods in the hopes of some type of salvation being brought to the village.

A plate filled with sindoor, which is an important part of any Indian religious ceremony, and a glass of milk have also been offered. People are, unfortunately, still using the ground to relieve themselves instead of the new washrooms.
