Secluded Indian Island Where Natives Kill Outsiders
The Indian Ocean island has been populated by the indigenous Sentinelese for an estimated 60,000 years, according to Mirror. The tribe have refused contact with the modern world and are hostile towards outsiders. In 2006, the tribespeople killed two men after they were fishing close to the North Sentinel island. The tribespeople even shoot arrows and throw rocks at helicopters or planes. They are hardly recorded on video or photographed and the only existing video clips or images tend to be of low quality.
Indian authorities have made it a crime to try to establish contact with the Sentinelese people. It is forbidden to go within three miles of North Sentinel Island. Survival International, a human rights organization, has claimed that local fishermen are constantly entering the area, with one fisherman stepping onto the island before being captured by the authorities. The organization fears that the tribe’s survival is under threat.
