Ubisoft Set To Open Video Game Theme Park
Ubisoft have revealed that they are working on plans to open a theme park based on its various video game franchises. The amusement complex will be located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and incorporate a 10,000-square-meter indoor arena and include rides, shows and other attractions based on their intellectual property.
The French publisher is one of the biggest developers of video games in the world and is responsible for creating games such as Rayman, Far Cry, Assassin’s Creed, Just Dance and Prince of Persia as well as the Tom Clancy series of titles that include Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell. The project is a joint partnership between Ubisoft Motion Pictures, who are already making movies based on Watch Dogs and Far Cry, and Malaysian theme park developer RSG.
“Ubisoft’s intention for this park is to immerse people in reactive worlds where they can interact with each other and become the heroes of their own life-sized game,” Jean de Rivières said, senior vice president of Ubisoft Motion Pictures.
The move comes not long after Disney revealed that they are set to create two large Star Wars attractions inside two of their own theme parks while Nintendo also announced that plans are under way for them and Universal to open parks based on its own video game properties.
