70-Year-Old Woman Arrested With Over $73,000 Of Cocaine In Her Underwear
Authorities were suspicious when 70-year-old Olive Fowler appeared to be very nervous when she arrived at JFK Airport in New York from Guyana this month. Usually people are nervous before they fly, not once they land. Then again, most people who are carrying four pounds of illegal drugs in their underpants would be nervous, so authorities were rightly curious.
After Fowler was taken to a private room to be searched by Customs and Border Protection, the massive amount of drugs hidden in her girdle and underwear were discovered. The drugs are thought to have a street value of over $73,000, with Fowler now facing federal drug charges. Fowler was assigned a federal public defender, Peter Kirchheimer, but he has yet to comment.
There’s no doubt that flying for several hours while there are four pounds of cocaine in your underwear would be uncomfortable, but jail probably won’t be very comfortable either.
