Tracy Morgan was born on November 10, 1968, and raised in the Bronx. He lived in Bedford Stuyvesant’s Tompkins Houses. His father, Jimmy Morgan, was a Vietnam veteran. His father left the family at a young age and died of AIDS at the age of 47 due to using infected needles when using heroin.

Morgan worked several jobs, even working as a vendor at Yankee Stadium. He met Lorne Michaels, the producer of “SNL” while working there. Roper had been up for 24 hours straight and was impaired. Morgan survived the accident but was comatose for two weeks. Unfortunately, his mentor James McNair was not as lucky, dying from his injury. Morgan credited his daughter for helping him escape the coma – he knew he wanted to be around to see her grow up.
