New Study Finds College Students Smoke More Marijuana Than Tobacco

We’ve known for a while that Marijuana is making a comeback, as it has become so popular that a number of states are defying the United States government by legalizing the drug. It appears that even in states where it is still not legal to smoke it, marijuana is becoming the most popular thing to smoke among college students. According to reports a new study shows that students at the university of Michigan are especially big fans of Marijuana.

Pot has actually supplanted cigarette smoking among a decent percentage of the college-going population and in Michigan a full six percent say they smoke weed regularly. While that number might not seem all that big, you have to put it up next to the fact that just five percent said that they smoked cigarettes daily, or as much as 20 times in 30 days.

Cigarettes used to be the drug of choice among the younger ages, because most college students are able to legally obtain tobacco products. It appears the anti-smoking campaigns are working though, as the tobacco smoking percentages are dropping. It could also be that college students have just decided that if they’re going to smoke something regularly, they might as well get high.
