Czech Protesters Replace Flag On Presidential Palace With Underpants
A group of Czech artists have carried out a political protest by climbing onto the presidential palace in Prague and replacing the flag with a pair of giant red underpants. The three protesters, who were dressed as chimney sweeps, climbed up the wall of the building and carried out the changeover before they were arrested by presidential guards.
Each of the men were members of an art group called Ztohoven, an outspoken organization that has criticized the Czech government and president Milos Zeman in particular. The giant pants were a way to draw attention to their cause and make a political statement. “Finally, over Prague Castle waves the flag of a man who is ashamed of nothing at all,” the group said on Facebook.
Ztohoven claim that the president has close ties with dictators in Africa and the Middle East as well as highly controversial policies. This includes recent statements he made regarding the threat of immigrants in Europe and the fact that he does not want disabled children taught in schools with other children.
