Man Sets Gas Station On Fire While Trying To Kill A Spider
There aren’t a lot of people out there who feel comfortable even looking at spiders, let alone being near them. They may typically be smaller than the average bean, but that doesn’t stop them from sending shivers up the average Joe’s spine. It’s no small wonder, then, that they can create complete disasters — and all they have to do is crawl around.
One driver in Center Line, Michigan, had a close encounter with a spider while filling up his car at a gas station. Panicked, he decided to take care of the creature in one shot — namely, by burning it off his gas tank with a cigarette lighter. The plan went awry almost instantly; flames swallowed the gas pump quickly. Luckily, an employee was there to turn off the gas flow, while the driver made use of a nearby fire extinguisher to fix his mess.
No one ended up hurt thanks to the fire; apart from the spider. The driver made it out fine with his car mostly intact, and the employee called the fire department for extra help; in the end, only the gas pump took major damage. It’s a lucky break, but the driver probably learned firsthand why it’s important to stay calm and think things through — even when dealing with spiders.
