Passenger Tries To Open Airplane Door Mid-Flight To Find Toilet
It’s always a good idea to be mindful of surroundings. Knowing where something is — or isn’t — can help a person out, be it with convenience, saving a life, or just sparing yourself of embarrassment. That’s especially true in public situations, and doubly so when failing to take notice means causing trouble at an altitude of thirty thousand feet.
That’s the situation James Gray found himself in. While on a trip to Amsterdam from Edinburgh, he made a critical mistake: in his desperate search for the toilet, he approached the plane’s door. Gray has since claimed that he only touched the handle, but the airline staff had a different take: apparently, he tried to open the plane’s door instead. He didn’t succeed in opening it, thankfully, but he did more than enough to face serious consequences.
For starters, Gray was taken to a detention center once the flight touched down on solid land. He spent the night there, but didn’t get the chance to fly with KLM — the ones who transported him in the first place — due to both a five-year ban and a hefty fine. Thanks to a friend he managed to fly with a different airline, but he learned a valuable lesson: anyone who’s lost should always look for directions.
