When Lava Meets Ice, Magic Happens

Most people will spend their entire life without going anywhere near large bodies of either lava or ice, which is unfortunate. Both substances are incredibly beautiful and magical in some cases. However, when you combine the two, interesting things tend to happen.

Thankfully, the Science Channel decided they were curious about what would happen, too. A team of trained individuals get their hands on lava and enough ice for the experiment. They then combine the two together and see what happens.

The lava touches the ice and almost immediately begins to bubble upward. A blackened, thick substance then forms around the edges as the lava cools, forming something of a cup for the still-hot lava. You definitely don’t want to get your hands anywhere near this experiment.
