Bobby Brown, born Robert Barisford Brown, was born in Boston, Massachusetts on February 5, 1969, to Carole Elizabeth Williams, a teacher,  and Herbert James Brown, a construction worker. 

There is a lot of controversy surrounding the exact number of his siblings. Some report that he has eight siblings, while others swear that there are five other siblings, but there are only two known siblings of the R&B singer. They are Leolah Brown and Tommy Brown. 

When he was only three, he saw James Brown perform, which helped spark the fire that would later become a burning passion for music. He also joined the church choir. 

The family was poor, and Robert Brown grew up in the projects. Life in Roxbury’s Orchard Park Projects did not provide Brown and his friends with the things they wanted in life, so they often resorted to stealing what they wanted or needed. 

At eleven, one of his dear childhood friends was stabbed to death, which became a turning point in his life.

Personal Life

Bobby Brown was married to singer Whitney Houston for more than a decade. The marriage was riddled with controversy as the couple made headlines for everything from abuse to alleged substance abuse issues. 

The couple were married on July 18, 1992, and had their daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, in 1993. However, their fifteen-year-long marriage was packed with drug abuse, cheating, abuse, and partying. Tabloids consistently told tales of the latest battery arrest or drama that swirled around the couple. They divorced in 2007. 

His ex-wife Whitney Houston died in 2012. She drowned in the bathtub at the Beverly Hilton. Later autopsy reports found that cocaine use and heart disease played a role in the incident.
