Human Skeleton Found Hanging From Roots Of Toppled Tree
A group of residents within a small township in Ireland were a little shocked when they made an odd discovery recently. Following a major storm, a tree that had been struck by lightning revealed something underneath, buried within its roots. Within said roots, a human skeleton was found. The top half of the human remains was hanging from the roots, while the bottom was discovered in a grave further below the tree.
An analysis has the bones dating back about 1,000 years, and probably belonged to a young man between the ages of 17 and 25. The human remains showed signs of trauma from a sharpened object, such as a sword or a knife. A carbon analysis shows the body was buried somewhere between 1030 and 1200 AD. It is unclear whether or not the man died in battle or was just murdered, however.
