The Conservatorship Controversy

Jamie Lynn was named the primary trustee of Britney Spears’ estate in 2018. In 2020, she filed to have more control over her sister’s assets, which were largely controlled by their father, Jamie. Upon the conservatorship dissolving in 2021, quite a few things were said about Jamie Lynn Spears’s role. 

Jamie Lynn Spears claimed that she took the necessary steps to help her sister and that she didn’t want to be involved with managing her sister’s finances in an interview released the same fall that saw the beginning of the end of the conservatorship. She also used those interviews as an opportunity to promote her book, titled Things I Should Have Said. According to her, she made sure that Britney Spears had the resources to end the conservatorship, which many have claimed was abusive, especially considering that Britney’s father earned an estimated $5 million off his daughter being in the conservatorship. 

However, there seems to be another side to that story, which Britney Spears is not shy about sharing. Britney claimed that her “so-called support system” hurt her deeply, and she was against her sister performing her songs to remixes. Britney accused her sister of selling a book at her expense. Jamie stated that Britney took a knife and locked the two of them into a room together, which Britney denied. 

Court documents show that Jamie Lynn Spears attempted to gain more control over her sister’s assets in 2020 but eventually withdrew the petition. Other alleged court documents proved that Britney financed quite a few of her sister’s flights to Hollywood. It turned out that Britney Spears was also the owner of sister Jamie’s $1 million condo in Destin, FL. 

Although the conservatorship ended, the sisters’ feud continued via Instagram, text messages, and interviews. 

Personal Life

Jamie Lynn Spears began dating Casey Aldridge in 2005. Two years later, she was pregnant, and the couple became engaged in 2008, the same year they welcomed their daughter Maddie into the world. The wedding with then-boyfriend Casey Aldridge was called off in 2009, and Jamie moved out of their home in Liberty, Mississippi. They were able to reconcile but called it quits for good in 2010. 

Jamie Lynn Spears married Jamie  Watson, the owner of Advanced Media Partners, in 2014 during a beautiful New Orleans wedding. The couple welcomed daughter Ivey into the world in 2018.
