Johnny Depp Makes Surprise Visit To Children’s Hospital In-Character
Johnny Depp has taken time out of his busy schedule to entertain children at a hospital in Australia. The star actor made a shock visit to the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital in Brisbane and spent time children from both the oncology and neurology wards while dressed up as the character Captain Jack Sparrow.
According to those at the hospital, Depp spent some two hours with the children. He not only took photos and signed autographs but also chatted with many of the patients and handed out gold coins as a keepsake. The actor also took part in some interviews for Juiced TV, a television program made by the children at the hospital.
Depp has played Captain Jack Sparrow for four films in the hit Pirates of the Caribbean series, a party that earned him critical and commercial success. He is currently in Australia filming for fifth movie in the franchise, called Dead Men Tell No Tales.
It’s also not the first time that Depp has spent time in children’s hospitals in character. In fact, it has been noted in the past that he often carries the costume around with him so he can make surprise visits. He also visited Great Ormond Street Hospital in London as the character in recognition of the work the staff had done with his own child when she was admitted in 2007. The 52-year-old also made a £1 million to the hospital.
