Man Arrested After He Accidentally Texts Cop Asking For Drugs

Narcotics police have arrested a man from Martin Country, Florida, after he mistakenly sent text messages to an officer asking to buy drugs. William Lamberson believed he was speaking with a man he had met earlier but had entered the wrong number and was actually texting the captain of Martin County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit.

Claiming to have met the captain at a 7-Eleven at some point earlier, Lamberson began the exchange by asking for marijuana. Realizing he had luckily found himself at the center of a drug deal, the police officer then steered the conversation to asking if the suspect was able to sell him any cocaine. When the man responded that he could and agreed to drop it off at the officer’s home, the captain quickly contacted other members of the narcotics unit who simply waited for Lamberson to show up with the drugs.

Police not only arrested the drug dealer and charged him with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, they also showed the text messages on their own Facebook page to show off the unlikely situation to members of the public.
