Man Eats 30,000th Big Mac Since 1972

Don Gorske, a 64-year-old retired prison officer, has just eaten his 30,000th Big Mac after having his first one 46 years ago. To celebrate this milestone, he gave a half-hour presentation to the crowd that gathered to watch him consume his favorite food. Marking this incredible milestone, he decided to devour the burger at the McDonald’s restaurant where he had his first ever one – in Fond du Lac in Wisconsin, USA.

Gorske had his first ever Big Mac in 1972, shortly after receiving his driver’s license, and has eaten almost two every day since.  In the 2004 documentary Supersize Me, Gorske said “As soon as I got my first car, this is the first place I came to. The first day I came here I ate nine Big Macs. It was like I couldn’t get enough hamburger at that time.

Gorske even proposed to his wife under the golden arches, and he even keeps proof of his Big Mac consumption. He’s got thousands of receipts, containers, and wrappers, but unfortunately lost over 7,000 styrofoam cartons in 1990 due to a tornado.

“People make fun of me, but it never bothered me,” he said. “At my last medical check-up I had low cholesterol and my blood pressure was perfect.”

“Everything about eating Big Macs every day was perfect. I never had to cook. It was fast and ready within minutes after I left work every day. I never had a craving for something different. I had found my perfect food. The stress of having to eat a non-McDonalds meal was over.”
