In the new tradition of the dying-teen-romance genre à la The Fault In Our Stars, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl is the about an awkward young guy who tries to befriend a fellow high school student at the request of his parents because she is dying of leukemia. The story revolves around two teens, as the boy attempts to make a film tribute for his sick friend with the help of his friend Earl (RJ Cyler).

Based upon the novel of the same name by author Jesse Andrews (who also penned the screenplay), the movie stars Project X‘s Thomas Mann as Greg, the film’s eponymous “me”, and Olivia Cooke from TV’s Bates Motel as the cancer addled Rachel. The film closed at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival with a standing ovation and won both the U.S. Grand Jury Prize for a Dramatic Film and the U.S. Drama Audience Award. Me and Earl and the Dying Girl is set to be released on June 12th.
