Police Officer Praised As A Hero After Talking Man Down From Suicide

Sometimes in the midst of crisis, terrorism and illnesses, it’s good to be reminded of the heroic and epic things people do around the world to help others, out of the goodness of their hearts. One of these people is an off-duty police officer in North Carolina who was caught on the state Department of Transportation traffic camera talking down a suicidal man and giving him a hug.

Dan Hicks, the officer shown in the video, has stated that he isn’t a hero. He also added that “any number of people across the country” would have stopped and done the same thing. “What I did last night was part of my job,” he stated, adding “there was a citizen crying for help, and we certainly answered his cry, and hopefully he will get the help he needs.“
