Robert DeNiro And Anne Hathaway Star In Nancy Meyers’ New Movie

During her entire career as a writer and director, Nancy Meyers has been making romantic comedies. From her beginnings with Baby Boom and Father of the Bride to her more recent work with Something’s Gotta Give and It’s Complicated, her darling little stories about love and family have been cherished by people around the world. But for her next film, Meyers has decided to take a step away from her more usual female-centric storylines in favor of a homage to a more classic gentleman.

The Intern stars Robert DeNiro as a seventy year-old man who takes up an internship at a fashion based internet company working under its sharp young creator and CEO, played by Anne Hathaway. The movie’s new trailer shows DeNiro as a fish out of water in the twenty-first century, but in a good way. Meyers describes the film as, instead of a romance or a lovely family story, a friendship story, which is something she has not yet had the chance to touch on.
