Sex Offender Hired As Easter Bunny At Pennsylvania Mall
In news that makes you wonder what the heck were they thinking, it appears that a Pennsylvania mall thought they found the perfect guy to play the Easter Bunny for the holiday season. Turns out, the guy was a registered sex offender and quickly terminated from the position once it was discovered.
Michael Jacobs portrayed the Easter Bunny at Westmoreland Mall in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, for about 12 hours before the company discovered his criminal history. In a statement from the company, the company stated: “An employee of Cherry Hill Photo who does the local hiring of the Mall Easter Bunny staff violated strict company guidelines and permitted a person to portray the Easter Bunny at the mall without first sending in the appropriate information to the corporate office for approval.”
It appears that nothing bad happened while Jacobs was on the job for the short amount of time, but he was quickly fired and the hiring manager was suspended while they investigated the incident further.
As far as Jacobs goes, he was convicted in the sexual assault of a minor twice and one of those cases was having sex with a 15-year-old girl when he was 19 years old. In 2010, he was charged with the rape and assault of a girl under the age of 13 years old, but that case was dismissed. Not too sure how he managed to slip through the cracks, but it looks like the mall needs a better hiring process.
