SNL Spoofs The Church of Scientology In Fake Ad
Uncategorized“Saturday Night Live” is known for pushing boundaries, and on this week’s episode, they certainly did just that. The Church of Scientology has gained notoriety largely due to the slew of celebrities like John Travolta, Tom Cruise, and Demi Moore, who attend. HBO released a new documentary earlier this week called “Going Clear” that has sparked a whole new conversation regarding shocking allegations about the church. “Saturday Night Live” took it upon themselves to spoof an old Scientology ad in response to the attention the documentary and the church are receiving.
In the spoof, cast members sing about The Church of Neurotology, and also reference Diametrics, which is an obvious spoof of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard’s Dianetics.
Of course, the Church of Scientology has spoken out against the “Going Clear” documentary in an effort to discredit it, and it might not be long before they speak out about SNL’s spoof as well.
