Snooki’s Early Life

As you might guess, Snooki is not her real name, and when she was born in Santiago, Chile, her parents named her Nicole Elizabeth Polizzi. When she was just six months old, she was adopted by a New York couple, Andy and Helen Polizzi, and then grew up in Marlboro, New York. Her adoptive parents are of Italian American descent. Even though Snooki herself was born in Chile, she has no real Chilean heritage. She is the result of a melting pot of ethnicities, including South Asian, Middle Eastern, Jewish, and Iberian-American.

Her father managed an auto salvage yard while her mother managed an office. In high school, she earned the nickname ‘Snooking’ when she became the first of her friends to actually kiss a boy. The name Snooki itself comes from the movie Save the Last Dance. She had an eating disorder throughout high school but still became an athletic cheerleader. After graduating high school, she decided to become a veterinary technician and enrolled at Brookdale Community College.

Career as an MTV personality

Although she is most closely identified with Jersey Shore, that was not Snooki’s first attempt at reality TV. She actually had her first experience on reality television, appearing on Is She Really Going Out With Him? This MTV show featured women who dated obnoxious or arrogant men, and Snooki appeared in episode 14 with her boyfriend at the time, Justin. Luckily, the Jersey Shore casting director was there to scout her, and she immediately became the breakout star of the Jersey Shore cast. By 2010, she had become so popular that Snooki costumes appeared everywhere, and everyone wanted to wear them.

Television Spinoffs

In 2011, Snooki and a Jersey Shore cast member, Jennifer Farley (JWoww), signed up to appear in a spinoff TV series called Snooki and JWoww. The network considered it to be something of a modern-day Laverne and Shirley, so it ran for four seasons until its run ended in February of 2015. Later on, in 2015, a new web series called Snooki & JWoww: Moms With Attitude premiered, and Snooki had another television responsibility. Snooki’s personal life

Snooki was engaged to Jionni LaValle in March of 2012. In August of that same year, she gave birth to the couple’s first child, Lorenzo Dominic LaValle. No. Her second child, Giovanna Marie Lavalle, came along in September of 2014. Finally, on November 29th, 2014, Snooki and Jionni LaValle were married after giving birth to their third child, Angelo James LaValle, earlier in the year, on May 30th.

Jionni himself prefers to stay out of the spotlight and allow his wife to gather all the critical praise, while he remains in the background. The two met at a nightclub in 2010 when Snooki was filming an episode of season 3 of Jersey Shore. She was inebriated at the time and could not remember his name, so she called him Bernard. In October of 2016, Snooki announced that she had undergone a procedure to augment her breasts to have a larger C cup. Numerous videos captured the action, and it went viral on YouTube before being picked up by national news media. Following this public punch in the face, Snooki demanded an increase from her $2,000 appearance fee, up to $10,000 for every event that she attended.
