Legal Troubles And The Teresa Guidice Bankruptcy

In 2009, Teresa and her husband filed for bankruptcy with $11 million in debt. They had to sell their mansion and auction off many of their belongings. By 2013 the couple had been indicted on almost 40 counts of conspiracy to commit mail fraud, bankruptcy fraud, wire fraud, lying on loan applications, and bank fraud. 

They cut a deal with prosecutors and pled guilty to 41 counts of fraud. Teresa was handed a 15-month-long prison sentence. Joe was slammed with a 41-month sentence and the possibility of deportation. He had lived in America since he was one year old but never became an American citizen. The couple was also ordered to pay $414,000, which they did. 

The legal troubles didn’t stop there. After Teresa served her sentence, she sued her bankruptcy lawyer, claiming that the lawyer did not meet with her before filing documents. The lawsuit was ultimately dismissed, and a verdict was announced that required Teresa to pay even more in restitution. 

Joe served his sentence and then was held in an immigration detention center. He then moved to Italy to be able to work while awaiting the decision on his deportation. 

Personal Life

Teresa Guidice married Guiseppe Guidice, also known as Joe Guidice, on October 23, 1999. They have four children together: Gia Guidice, Gabriella Guidice, Milania Guidice, and Audriana Guidice. 

The couple divorced in 2020. Teresa stated that she could not deal with a long-distance relationship as her husband lived in Italy, and also cited the years of legal troubles the couple had to deal with. 

Within a few months, she stated that she was in a relationship with Luis Ruelas. They became engaged in 2021. They married in 2022, and their blended family includes Luis’s two children from a previous marriage: Louie Jr. and Nicholas.
