The 10 Wackiest Cartoon Villains Ever Devised
Funny, Illustration, ListsCartoons have long been a staple in most people’s homes since the invention of the black-and-white television. Every Saturday morning, and for a brief period after school closed for the day, most children were glued to their family’s television set in an effort to watch some of the coolest and newest cartoons to have ever been devised. What made each of these cartoons so great, however, was not the main protagonist, but the villain who stood behind them ensuring life was difficult for all. Here are the ten wackiest cartoon villains to have ever been concocted.
Bluto – Popeye
Bluto has long been the villain that stood against Popeye in all of his adventures. He is the man who wanted to get frisky with Olive Oyl, and despite having far more strength than the iconic hero, Bluto never managed to win a fight.
Dishonest John – Beany and Cecil
Dishonest John simply looked the part of a sinister villain. He dressed in a black suit with black shoes and a black hat. The man just screamed evil – at least within a cartoon capacity. He was the supervillain who tricked Beany and Cecil regularly.
Cruella de Vil – 101 Dalmatians
Cruella de Vil was easily one of the worst villains to have been concocted in the cartoon world. She was probably one of the meanest and most sinister of them all, as she wanted to turn Dalmation puppies into a fur coat. Puppies!
Dick Dastardly – Wacky Races
Dick Dastardyl was another villain who just had the appearance of one. His long black mustache was often twirled between his fingers, and the constant sneer upon his face. His car, “The Mean Machine,” all had types of traps to tackle his opponents.
Magneto – X-Men
The X-Men have long been a staple within the cartoon world, and Magneto has always been the villain who stood against everything the mutants fought for. Magneto, a Holocaust survivor, is driven by near insanity at this point.
The Joker – Batman
The Joker is another criminal mastermind that comes to mind when most people are thinking about cartoon villains. The painted face, the careless disregard for humanity, and the penchant for violence make him a force to be reckoned with.
Wile E. Coyote – Roadrunner
The Roadrunner cartoons were also hilarious, if not a tad inappropriate for younger viewers. Every single episode led to some obnoxious scheme of his to kill the Roadrunner using various tricks, including a painted wall that looks like a tunnel.
Skeletor – Master of the Universe
Skeletor, whose face has never been revealed to the likes of mankind, was always the main antagonist facing off against He-Man in the Master of the Universe cartoon. Castle Grayskull, his home, was as menacing as he was.
Gargamel – The Smurfs
Gargamel is a creepy villain. He was always the type of cartoon character to make viewers cringe. His ugly face, his dumb schemes, and plenty more made him truly unlikable to most. His attempts to destroy the Smurfs was also a bad idea.
Shredder – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
With the recent release of the live-action version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Shredder, the infamous villain, who is the leader of the Foot Clan, has come into the spotlight. The armor-clad ninja is a beast in the streets.
