The ‘Straight Outta Compton’ Trailer Is Here And It’s Awesome

The trailer for the upcoming biopic of hip hop group N.W.A. has officially been released. Straight Outta Compton will follow the lives of N.W.A members, Eazy-E, MC Ren, Dr. Dre, DJ Yella and Ice Cube as the group rose to fame while growing up in their South Central Los Angeles neighborhood. N.W.A. made headlines during the late 80’s for their controversial gangsta rap music and for how their song F*** Tha Police caused a rebuke by the FBI. They were deemed as the world’s most dangerous group.

Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gary stated that the movie would go beyond the surface and show what caused N.W.A. to be rebels against their surroundings.

“You’ll get the sex, drugs, and rock & roll that go with a music biopic, but we go beyond the surface. While there is a lot of very specific talk about pushing back against the system and delving into street culture, these guys had lives outside of that”.

The film’s cast will have a bunch of new comers with Ice Cube’s son, O’Shea Jackson Jr. as Ice Cube, Corey Hawkins as Dr. Dre and Jason Mitchell as Eazy-E. Straight Outta Compton will be released in theaters on Friday, August 14th.
