Thief Tries To Cash In Lottery Ticket At Same Store He Stole It From
An Alabama man has been arrested after he tried to cash in a winning lottery ticket at the same store he had previously stole it from. Richard D. Morgan broke into the store in the early hours of the morning and stole the lottery ticket dispenser before returning later the same day to try to claim the prize for one of the tickets.
Staff at the Big Daddy Liquor Store had already informed police of the burglary and told the Florida Lottery that tickets had been stolen so that they could be voided. However, when a man tried to cash one of the stolen tickets, they realized that this must be the man responsible. The 41-year-old immediately confessed to officers who attended the scene and revealed that he had taken the lottery dispenser back to his apartment.
He now faces a series of charges after he caused extensive damage to the store during the break in and stole more than $7,000 worth of lottery tickets.
