Uber Driver Stopped And Harassed By NYPD Officer

Uber receives a lot of flack in the cities where they work, but it’s mostly because the overall company doesn’t adhere to the traffic laws put in place. Unfortunately for this Uber driver, a New York City police officer, Patrick Cherry, was having a bad day and decided to harass him.

Cherry was driving around in an unmarked vehicle when he attempted to park without using his blinker after visiting fellow officer Harry Hill at NYU Langone Medical Center. The Uber driver pulled up beside him and motioned that he needed to use a blinker to signal a turn to park. The officer didn’t take kindly to this, so he pulled the vehicle over. The officer is recorded mocking the English of the Uber driver, who is obviously from another country.

The Uber driver remained courtious throughout the entire ordeal, responding to the police officer calmly and with respect. The officer, however, was incapable of offering the same level of respect to the driver.

A passenger within the backseat of the Uber vehicle recorded the officer harassing the Uber driver. He posted the video with the description:

Our Uber driver, Humayun, was abused by a police officer today in New York. The unending rage, door slamming, throwing items into the car, threatening arrest without cause was bad enough — but the officer’s remarks at the end really took it to another level.

The officer in question was assigned to the Joint Terrorism Task Force, according to police sources. He has since had his badge and firearm revoked, however.
