The American rap artist Young Thug is known for his unconventional vocal style and fashion, which received both praise and criticism. On August 16, 2021, Young Thug was gifted 100 acres of land in Atlanta for his 30th birthday by his manager Geoff Ogunlesi, and his real estate agent Trey Williams. He named the land Slime City. Legal Issues
In 2015, Young Thug was sued for alleged involvement in a shooting on a tour bus Lil Wayne was in. Thug was arrested for threatening to kill a security guard at an Atlanta mall that same year. Also in 2015, a lawsuit was filed against Thug for not showing up at a concert in Sahlen’s Stadium after a $55,000 contract was signed. And in April 2015, Heritage Select Homes filed a lawsuit against Thug claiming that he owed $2.2 million in house payments.
In 2018, Thug was charged with possession and intent to distribute drugs (meth, hydrocodone, and marijuana).
On May 9, 2022, Thug was arrested in Atlanta on gang-related charges. Thug and along with 27 other people connected to YSL (Young Slime Life) were charged in a 56-count Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) in a state court. A RICO act is a federal law designed to combat organized crime in the United States. As of July, the Atlanta-based rapper was denied bond and will remain in prison until his January trial.
